Preston Treen Bowen was born at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY on September 9, 2014. He was a perfect 7 lbs 3 oz. baby boy. Well, “perfect” with a congenital heart defect. We found out when I was around 32 weeks pregnant that our newest little bundle has something called Hypoplastic Left Heart. We were told that he would need to be delivered at Crouse and then transferred to Rochester’s Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial where he would have his first of three heart surgeries.

Preston was 3 days old when he had his first surgery. They basically went inside his heart and remodeled.  He is doing well now, a month later. We have good days and we have bad but at least we still have them. 🙂

He will need, for sure, two other surgeries on his heart. The second will be around 6-9 months old and the third will be between 3-6 years old.

Preston has two big brothers and a big sister waiting ever so impatiently for him to get better so they can teach him how to fight bad guys like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, defend planet Earth from the Decepticons like a Transformer and which Pokemon does what. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to all the snuggles and cuddles and even the sleepless nights that you get when you bring home a new baby from the hospital.
